Kathi Denny has worked in education for 22 years – all in the Tustin school district. She worked as a TUSD Connect Coach at Loma Vista and Red Hill elementary schools, and assisted teachers with implementation of English language arts, literacy, history/social studies, Next Generation Science Standards, technology integration and Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI).
Mrs. Denny was a teacher at Arroyo Elementary School for 12 years and was named Arroyo Teacher of the Year in 2012. She has also taught at Robert Heideman, Loma Vista and Barbara Benson elementary schools.
“Kathi has a long history in the District as an outstanding elementary teacher and more recently as one of our innovative Connect Coaches,” Superintendent Dr. Gregory Franklin said. “She is extremely well prepared to lead Tustin Ranch Elementary School.”
Denny has a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from Chapman University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education.
Among her accomplishments, Denny is a Master teacher, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) teacher, Cotsen fellow and member of the Computer-Using Educators (CUE) organization. She has also served as a presenter at many conferences and workshops, including the CUE Conference, Cotsen Full STEAM Ahead Conference, Growing Educator’s Summer Institute, Balanced Literacy and Technology (BLT) and Writing in Mathematics through Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI).
“I’m excited to get to know the Tustin Ranch staff, students, parents and community,” Denny said. “I look forward to working together to continue a rigorous 21st Century learning community for all students."
